I was a victim, so it seems of the AWS outage and I went to download my bank account and credit card transactions and have tons from the bank that are already in GB. I have several accounts and a lot of transactions. Has anyone found an easy (easier) way to fix?
Hi @Dcntruman – Sorry for the trouble! I think you’re saying you’re manually importing transactions but Goodbudget isn’t recognizing that you’ve already imported certain ones before and is allowing you to import them again as new transactions. Is that right?
Your bank gives each transaction in the OFX or QFX file that you download a unique number called a FITID. When you import that file, Goodbudget records that FITID so it can keep track of which transactions you’ve imported before, so you don’t import the same one more than once. However, if your bank changes the way they create FITIDs (which could have happened as a result of the outage, or if your bank made a different kind of update since then), then Goodbudget won’t be able to recognize those transactions as already imported creating this kind of problem.
However, you can mitigate importing or seeing duplicates by only importing with files that have date ranges that don’t overlap with your currently existing imported transactions. For example, if you already imported up through Oct 15, your next file should start on Oct 15 through current.
I hope that helps! Let me know if I’ve misunderstood you.
