The checking account balance in Goodbudget continues to go off track every once in a while. Currently showing $2000 less than bank balance. I’m syncing the accounts, and it was correct last week. How can I prevent this? It’s driving me crazy.
Think I found the problem, and it’s related to CC payments. I still don’t understand what to do with the four transactions that are created with both bank and CC synced to Goodbudget. Here they are (generically)
6/12 Autopayment thank you (Checking acct→CC) negative amount
6/12 Autopayment thank you (CC←Checking acct) positive amount
6/13 Withdrawal ACH CC autopay (Checking acct→CC) negative amount
6/13 Withdrawal ACH CC autopay (CC←Checking acct) positive amount
Confirmed all four (same amounts). What should I have done instead?
Sorry for the trouble! It looks like you have your CC payment recorded twice, and that’s likely happening because you have both your Checking Account and your CC Account linked.
Since you’ve already confirmed these items, you’ll just need to delete one of the duplicates so you only have your CC payment recorded once.
Going forward, I’d recommend waiting for the negative half of the CC payment from the checking side to sync down, and then converting that to an Account Transfer. Then, when the positive half of the payment on the credit card side syncs down, you’ll just need to delete it so you don’t record the payment twice.
Hope that helps!
