Spending Reports Using Keyword Searches?

As an example, I have an envelope named “Gifts.” I know I can view a spending report for the whole envelope but say I only want to see how much I spent on gifts to my spouse (I always add a note with each transaction with the name of the recipient of the gift, btw). Is there a way to do that? Somewhere I could type in the name of my spouse and get a spending total just for those gifts? I tried it from the main page but it only shows me the transactions, not an added $ total.

@prsammy Thanks for your post! What you’re asking for is currently possible using #tags. When you #tag a transaction, you’ll be able to search for that tag in some spending reports, and Goodbudget will show you the total of all transactions with that particular tag.

If you don’t want to #tag transactions, a workaround would be to find all of your desired transactions with the ‘advanced’ search on the web. Then you could export them into a CSV file, and then sum up the columns.

I hope that helps!
