Should Bank Sync Load Past Transactions?

I’ve had my bank accounts synched for a few days and I have synched transacations from that day on but I’m not seeing any past transactions. I’m perfectly fine manually importing but I saw other guidance that the sync will “eventually” catch up.

Hi @MichFam1985,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the confusion! When you link one of your real-life accounts to a Goodbudget Account, that Goodbudget Account will sync down only your single most recently cleared transaction from your bank so you know the connection is working. While I understand you may have preferred to get more history at the very beginning, this was a design decision on our part to avoid overwhelming people with a large amount of transaction history that they would need to categorize on day 1.

Going forward, Goodbudget will sync your new transactions after they’ve cleared in your bank first. So when you make a new purchase on the real-life account, it will take a few business days for that transaction to clear in your bank and then for your bank to report the transaction and send it to Goodbudget. You can read more about the timing of when you can expect your transactions to show up here: https://goodbudget.com/help/automatic-bank-sync/when-will-transactions-show-up/.

I understand this isn’t what you expected, but I hope this gives you an explanation of what’s happening! If you have more specific questions about your Household, feel free to contact us at support@goodbudget.com.

Live Generously,
Chloe
