Sending "returns" straight to an envelope

It seems like when I’m manually making an income I can go to fill envelopes and make a new income that goes straight to an envelope, but if I have one autogenerated for me from a return transaction I can’t send it straight to a envelope.

It would be cool if there can be a tab on those that I can send straight to an envelope so when I do a return from a store I can send it back to the corresponding envelope. As of right now I have to do a whole separate fill each time.

If you use credit instead of income you can put it into whichever envelope you like. Either choose credit where that’s an option, or enter the value as a negative number. I think that accomplishes what you’re asking for.

that’s for responding, Tiffany!

When it comes from the autogenerated list, I can’t adjust the value of the transaction. There doesn’t seem to be a table for credit to change the value when it’s autogenerated.

Hi @Tim_Smith When you a positive transaction syncs down, you’ll be asked to select its ‘Type.’ At that point, you can select ‘Credit,’ and then assign it to an Envelope.

You can read more about that here: https://goodbudget.com/help/automatic-bank-sync/confirm-your-automatically-imported-transactions/

Hope that helps!

Do credits count towards income?

Hey @Tim_Smith! Credits don’t count as income. If you’re worried that a credit/return will inflate your Income reports, know that that’s not the case.

Hope that helps!
