Newbie here with another question.
Firstly, am not using bank sync so have to manually create my own transactions. Also, I may be making this more complicated that I need to.
Each pay cycle, I save xxxx in real life and effectively ‘pay’ that amount to separate physical savings account. I want to be able to record ‘expense/outgoing’ in GB but I’d also like to be able to keep a record/tracking of how my savings is growing.
In my brain - I imagine I could have an envelope called “savings/pay yourself” and then record it as an expense transaction.
But how can I set GB up so that I can also see my actual savings account growing
You’ll have to have a Good Budget household that allows multiple accounts, but with that you would do exactly what you’ve suggested. Use an envelope for Savings and allocate money from Available whenever you save, and create a Savings account into which you can transfer money from your Checking. It’s two separate transactions (which you can automate, obviously) but a great way to watch your savings grow.
Hope that helps!
