iPhone app stopped displaying transactions

Hi, I’ve been using GB for close to 15 years (starting as a Beta user) and it has helped me in immense ways during this time. I use both the iPhone app and the web-based site. In the last 1-2 weeks I have had an issue with the iPhone app. I can open it, I see the envelopes, can access reports, etc., but if I try to display the transactions it just “blows up” the app. I have deleted the app, reinstalled it, and it goes into “backing up” mode, but I think it never finishes. I end up where I started, unable to display transactions. I highly suspect that I’ve hit some kind of transaction limit, having been a user for 15 years. Again, the web-based site works perfectly fine still, so I’m guessing it’s an iPhone thing. Any help or recommendations please? (besides deleting all past transactions and starting over…!). If it’s possible to delete like the first 10 years of transactions that would probably work, but I can’t find any option like that.

We apologize for the trouble! It sounds like you’re experiencing a bug we introduced in our last version. But we believe we’ve rolled out a fix, and that update should be available for you in the Apple App Store. Here’s how you can get it:

  • Open the App Store App
  • Search for ‘Goodbudget’ and tap on it
  • Tap on ‘Update’ and then on ‘Open’

From there, you should be able to use the app as you normally do, but please let us know if that doesn’t work for you.

Hi, yes I’ve done that a couple of times (just tried again) and the problem still exists. The app says I’m running version 242 (230). Is that the latest version?

Hi @John_Mitchell Thanks for your reply! That is the latest build.

We’ve heard confirmation from another customer who’s experiencing this bug that this build didn’t resolve the crashing for them either, so we’ll need to take another look at a fix. Unfortunately, that means the Transactions tab will continue to be crash or not display correctly until we resolve this.

If it helps any, I have found that I can view transactions for the envelope at the bottom of the list as displayed on the iPhone app. Any other envelops I try to display blow up the app.

Thanks for shooting us a direct email! We found the issue was related to some incorrectly formatted date information. We were able to update that info for you.

If other folks are experiencing crashing on the Transactions tab, or when tapping into Envelopes, there is an updated version of the Goodbudget app (version 5.4.6, (245)) in the App Store that resolves the crashing.
