How to manage tags?

I started using the tags feature recently. I like it, but now that I’m using it for some transactions, I’m wondering if there’s a way to do two things:

  1. Can I get a list of tags I already have? I don’t have many, yet I find myself going to advanced search to make sure I don’t accidentally create a new tag.
  2. Is there a way to delete tags? The # character is also used to indicate a number, such as a confirmation number, which is also a useful thing to put in a note. Now I have a tag that I don’t want to be a tag, even though I’ve edited the note to add a space after the #.

Hi @CharlotteM,

You can see your existing tags by using the ‘advanced’ search link on the web, and then clicking on the ‘Tag’ dropdown. There, you’ll see all of your active tags. There’s also a ‘Tagged’ filter in the Spending by Envelope report, which will show all of your active tags.

The only way to delete a tag is to remove the tag from all of the transactions using it. If you’ve already done that, then you might still be seeing that tag because of caching from the Goodbudget app on your phone. In that case, you can try manually backing up your phone app, or try logging out and then logging back in to clear your Goodbudget app’s cache and you shouldn’t see the old tags anymore.

Before you log out of the phone app, make sure you head to the website to double-check all your expected data is visible, so that you don’t lose anything when you log out.

Hope that helps!

Hi @karisa
Yes, I knew about finding the tags under Advanced Search. I was using my computer, just checked again and the tag that I removed from my note is no longer in the list.
