I intend to create a Goal envelope for my Marriage and hence I am trying to understand the thought process behind creating and saving for it.

As for the thought processes, the main thing that differentiates a Goal Envelope from the other Envelopes is that Goal Envelopes are intended for one-time use savings/spending, whereas the other Envelopes are meant for tracking recurring or periodic savings or expenses.
If you add a Due Date to your Goal Envelope, it’ll calculate the amount you need to fill to hit your target by the specified date, and will become a part of your budget in that way.
