Does anyone track their HSA in Goodbudget?
I am conflicted because it would give me a skewed number of how much real money I have since that money is restricted to health-related expenses. On the other hand, it would be good to see how much I have in there in GB without having to log in to my HSA provider.
Right now, I have an HSA reimbursement envelope where I put my expenses that I plan to make a claim for.
I have not done this, but now you have me thinking about it. I’ve always treated HSA as off-budget. It’s kind of it’s own account AND envelope at the same time. You would have to add both to GB and they’d always have the same balance, so I’m not sure it’s worth the effort if you have sufficient balance in the HSA that you don’t need to consult it prior to spending it.
That is a great point about not needing to consult it. I do have sufficient balance to cover my usual medical expenses. If I had a large emergency expense come up, I wouldn’t be consulting it anyway!
