Hey, I have filled my enveloppes. When I buy something I update my enveloppes. I still have money in my enveloppes but I always get the message
You’re behind by 315.30. Stop spending for 10 days?
But I have enough in my enveloppe is this normal?
Hi there – the “ahead” or “behind” messaging (as well as the black line on your Envelope bar) is meant to just track your progress across the month / budget period. So it’s possible and common for it to say you’re “behind” even if you have money left in the Envelope.
Essentially, it divides the total budgeted amount by the amount of days in the month and assumes you should spend that fraction each day to be “on pace”. You can see a more detailed explanation of how this works in our Help Center here.
