Envelopes and Account Sync

Is it possible for me to have each envelope sync with a different account? For example my envelopes for Bills will have its own account to sync with and then i have other envelopes (birthday, etc.) with other accounts. Thank you.

Thanks for your post, and that’s a good question. In Goodbudget, Envelopes are automatically not tied to specific Accounts. Instead, Goodbudget helps you budget in your Envelopes all of the money you have available in all of the Accounts you’re tracking.

However, if you’d like to mimic tying certain Envelopes with an Account, you can try using Envelope Groups as a workaround. You can create an Envelope Group by using a colon in the Envelope’s Name. So, for example, you can create an Envelope Group that’s named ‘Bills’ by naming your Envelopes as such: ‘Bills: Groceries,’ ‘Bills: Rent,’ etc. By doing that, those Envelopes will be lumped together, and then you can fill them with the same amount of money you have available in your Bills Account. Going forward, all transactions made on your Bills Accounts will need to be recorded against or assigned to Envelopes in your Bills Group so that the Envelope Group’s balance continues to match the balance of the Account.
