Connecting Australian banks

Hi there, I am happy to pay for the premium but I don’t want to do so until i know for sure GB can connect to Aussie banks. From what I’ve found, it seems I would need to connect them via Plaid, but even Plaid I can’t seem to find proper information about whether they will sync with CommBank in Australia or not. Could someone please help me? thank you so much!

Hi @ChloHiggs – Thanks for considering Goodbudget Premium. Goodbudget’s Bank Sync features are only compatible with US-based banks right now. Can you let me know the name of the institution you would have linked? That’ll help us know which banks we’ll need to cover if we’re able to add international support.

Hi Karisa - can you please re-read my initial email & reply to the question I asked in it about 3rd-party app thats will allow users in Australia to connect GB with their bank? The bank I need to connect is CBA thanks.

Hi @ChloHiggs – Thanks for your question. Goodbudget partners with Plaid, so it’s not possible for you to connect to GB with a different open banking service. Goodbudget only supports US-banks currently through Plaid.

Hi Karisa - it looks like Plaid has already partnered with an Australian provider of this service: Basiq Basiq announces partnership with Plaid to expand financial access | Open Banking API Platform - Basiq
Please let us know if this is still a thing as it would be great if it was that simple to have Australian banks join the feeds!

@Jase_WM – Thanks for posting! Plaid may support Australian banks through Basiq, but the way Goodbudget has implemented Plaid means that Goodbudget only supports US-based banks through Plaid right now. Hope that’s more clear!

@karisa that makes perfect sense! Thank you for clarifying and we will wait in earnest for the expansion of the feature :star_struck:

It would be great if we could see a dashboard / graph / poll option for ‘Australian bank’ suggestions too through a form or other function.
