I wish an update could be made to this system so we were able to manually edit the amounts in the accounts/envelopes. I get it, it’s supposed to match if you’re doing everything right, but reality is sometimes you mess up and can’t figure out where or what caused it. It really sucks having to delete everything and start over or create fake accounts/envelopes. Please fix this Goodbudget, I love your program and want to stay with it.
You CAN do this today! If you choose “Edit” on the Accounts page, you can change the balance of an Account to reflect reality. This will enter a line item for the balance adjustment (which you can rename) but won’t put anything into Envelopes, except to adjust your Available Balance to make up for the difference.
You should ideally do this sparingly though; if things were correct in the past and you’re just missing transactions, it’s probably better to enter a miscellaneous “lost transaction” into a catch-all envelope than to just adjust the balance each time.
