I have a goal category for my emergency fund. Let’s say my target is $10,000 and I’ve saved up the full $10,000. If there’s an emergency and I remove, say, $2,000, I still want to aim for $10,000 saved in my emergency fund. If I leave the goal at $10,000, though, GoodBudget thinks I’ve already met my goal. I could change the goal to $12,000, but I find that confusing. The only other option I’ve found is to create a brand new category, which is not optimal. Is there a better way to do this?
Personally I wouldn’t create a goal envelope for this situation. Goal envelopes are for saving for a one time expense. I just create a emergency fund envelope and know that my goal is to keep the balance at $10k.
