I see that I can create a report for various budget periods up to the last 12. However, I need one for the last 24 budget periods, or for year to date, or for whatever date range I need a report for. Am I missing something in Goodbudget, because the reporting date ranges are not anything out of the ordinary for any budgeting program. Currently I need to view my expenses per envelope for the year 2020.

It sounds like you might be looking at the Spending vs Budget Report, which indeed reports only up to the last year of budget periods. But all of the other reports should be based on specific dates, and allow you to filter for whatever range of dates you like using the calendar selectors at the top.
